Had a super chill day out in Tatebayashi today, another city in Gunma. Woke up at 9:00am and went to pick up some other ALT friends at 9:30AM. Set off for Tatebayashi around 10:00AM, and arrived at the café I’d found earlier on 食べログ called The Grove. It was a super cute café (man I love Japan and all their cute little local cafes!!!) with lots of plants and cute things for decorations. The food was also really good too - ¥1100 for the pasta lunch set, which was salted cabbage and bacon pasta, and an entrée of salad + soup + bread, and the softest chiffon cake ever for dessert! Also got a caramel macchiato separately (¥400). My friends got the オムハヤシライス, and the pizza toast, which was super cute cause they called it the “nostalgic pizza toast”. Everything was just super delicious and for such cheap prices too (when compared with café food prices in NZ)!
After we finished lunch, we went to the nearby park which is known for putting up a lot of carp streamers (鯉のぼり) for Children’s Day, which is on May 5th. There really were a lot, as it was just a whole ton of them strung up over the river. Took photos and walked up and down the riverbank, then went home. Spent the evening editing the video for the Kamikōchi day trip yesterday.
