Woke up at 7:15am, had rice for breakfast, and set off for work. Today was absolutely pouring with rain. First up today was 1-1 in period 2 and we just sang a ton of songs for the whole lesson basically. 1-1 is full of super cute kids though, who are 200% full of affection. As soon as I walk into the classroom they’re all crowding around, giving hugs, hanging onto my arms and legs, just bombing you with affection! We started with the Hello song (which they then kept singing on and off throughout the lesson haha), and then played Hot Potato, which they absolutely loved. It was super cute – reminded me of “pass the parcel” which was the game in every kid’s birthday party back home. The kids who got the soft toy when the music stopped had to go to the middle and say “Hello! My name is ____.” Then we did numbers and sang Seven Steps, and then colours, and sang the Colours song. After that with the remaining time we played the missing game, which they actually did really well! 1-2 up next in period 3 and they were just as good.

5-2 in period 4 and it was a fun lesson. They’re really getting the hang of Small Talk now, usually reporting back everything that was said. The first half of the lesson was quiet because it was a listening activity, and even though it was pretty difficult, they all did great and got all the points! The second half of the lesson was super noisy because they were asking each other “What do you want?” and trading alphabet cards, and they were all going crazy with it. They then wrote the letters that they got onto lined worksheets after 2 minutes of swapping. We did 3 rounds of this and then finished. Lunch today was rice with pork and veggies, soup, and salad. Cleaning time was a breeze again. 5-1 in period 5 and it was also a very fun lesson. Even though it was in period 5 (late in the day) and pretty hot and stuffy, the kids still did great. The listening activity was definitely a little hard for them, but a few kids overcame the challenge, and the rest really did try their best. A few kids also struggled in the alphabet game because they weren’t too familiar with lowercase letters, but we’ll have plenty of time to brush that up throughout the year. Got off work at 16:30 after having meetings with the grade 3 teachers, and my JTE for tomorrow’s lessons.
