Friday

Woke up at 7:15am, had udon for breakfast and then set off for school. It’s getting hotter and hotter by the day, with today being a high of 26 degrees already, and it’s not even summer! This Sunday is forecasted to be 31-32 degrees, it’s just crazy to think about. If it’s already this hot now, I’m dreading how hot it’s going to get in the summer months. First up today was 6-1, and it was another good class. I can’t stop being surprised at how well all the English lessons are going this year so far (I know we’re only in our 2nd week but still) and how well the kids are doing the activities. 5-2 in period 2 and it was also a great lesson, where we were able to practice every skill – listening, speaking, writing, and reading (just a little bit, but still good). The kids also did the interview very well, and it was hilarious seeing them running around shouting “BOOOOY” and “GIIIIIIRL” because their homeroom teacher made it a rule to alternate between boys and girls when interviewing each other. 5-1 in period 3 and it was also good, just a bit too quiet and slow at the start, but at least they really liked the alphabet worksheet – finally a lot more people put up their hands to answer.

English broadcast today, and it was supposed to be the first English picture book broadcast session, but we couldn't figure out how to connect the video camera to the TV and play it back properly, so we had to postpone it till next week. Lunch today was sticky rice, fish, soup, and jelly. Cleaning time was super easy again. Spent the rest of the afternoon cutting out alphabet cards and rounding their corners. Got off work at 16:00 and went to the bank to update my bankbook and pay rent. Then I got some stuff from the drugstore, and also popped by Cainz to buy a big picnic mat and try find a beach umbrella! Managed to buy the big picnic mat, but didn’t find a beach umbrella that I liked.
