Another lovely day out today, this time to Kanramachi’s samurai festival! Woke up early at 7:30am since the festival starts pretty early. Before that though, I had breakfast at one of my favourite cafes with two other ALTs. Breakfast took a little longer than expected because the café was really packed today! And sadly the owner changed his French toast policy, so he only serves those in the afternoon and no longer in the morning. That was kinda sad, because we were all really looking forward to eating the French toast! So we ended up just having his normal breakfast sets, but it was still really good, and so cheap for only ¥500 with a drink included too! After we were done with breakfast we drove to Kanramachi, parked at a school (so many people directing traffic again) and headed off to find our friends who were participating in the festival as samurai! When we arrived, we found that they’d already done their march, but thankfully we still didn't miss the entire thing, because they had to march back to where they initially got changed and everything. While waiting for them to get changed, we went to the gardens (楽山園) and it was free entrance today yay! Then we decided to head to have lunch ourselves first since we were getting quite hungry. Drove back to Yoshī to have lunch at one of my other favourite cafes, Pension, and the owner recognised me even though I’ve only been once before! This time I got the gratin, and today’s dessert was sponge cake, cream, and banana – tasted like tiramisu at first, but then I ate the banana and changed my mind. We all got the latte art today again, and this time I got a heart with a smiley face! After lunch I dropped off my friends at the station and their house, and then drove back home myself.
