A lovely day out today! Slept in till 9:00am, then woke up and got ready for a pickup at 10:00am. My school librarian was taking me to one of her favourite cafes today – she even made a booking, because this café is super popular during the sakura season! We arrived at Kannonyama where the café is, but parked a bit further away at a free parking lot and walked up. The café was super pretty and gave me a lot of Kyoto vibes! Loved it. The food was absolutely delicious, and it was an all vegetarian meal/menu. We got the sakura lunch set for ¥2000, and it came with salad, soup, entrée (?) dish (variety of veggies served in different ways), main dish (spring rolls with rice) and then dessert (sakura chiffon cake with vanilla ice cream and strawberry sorbet) with a drink (I got an iced coffee)! The thing that actually stood out the most for me about this café was actually the cutlery used. Each of the cups and plates and bowls used were so gorgeous, I wish I could have bought the whole set! The café had a large glass window with a lovely view outside – would’ve been gorgeous during peak (the sakura had all fallen when we went unfortunately, because of the early warmth this year) but it was still lovely. After lunch we spontaneously decided to go to this place in Akagi to see sakura and rapeseed flowers. Spontaneous for them (my school librarian and two others) but not for me because I’d been planning to go anyway haha. We first picked up my ALT friend first before heading to Akagi. There were still some sakura around since it’s colder up here in Akagi, but definitely way past peak – all the leaves had come out. The sakura tunnel, which this place is famous for, was still lovely though, and there were many stalls selling the usual street food there. We had a lot of fun taking photos and slow motion videos of us blowing and throwing the fallen sakura petals – the librarian and her friends were amazed at this and kept telling me I had the best ideas, but I was like “but this is the usual thing to do in sakura season!?” but they told me they’d never done it, or thought to do it! I guess one good thing about post-peak sakura season is the amount of sakura petals on the ground for you to use in photos. After we’d finished seeing the whole place, the librarian dropped us off back at mine. Went out for ramen for dinner with the ALT friend, and then spent the rest of the evening editing today’s photos.
