Thursday 5th April

Woke up at 7:15am, had bread for breakfast, bought lunch at Lawson again, and then drove to school. Finished off sorting out all the nametags for all grades, and then got on to making new day + month + weather + subject cards for all the classes to use. I’m going to try and integrate a lot of English cards in all the classrooms this year! Last year only 2-3 had a lot of “English stuff” in their classroom cause their homeroom teacher is super passionate (she’s already thought up an English catchphrase for her class this year), but the other teachers are all pretty chill about English, so if I make something and give it to them, they’ll put it up. The printer was being fixed in the afternoon, and they’d moved to the computer which I usually use for printing stuff away somewhere else, so I didn't get any printing done today. Spent the afternoon planning the 1st and 2nd week’s worth of lessons instead. Got off work at 16:00 and went home. Headed out again at 17:00 to go have dinner with a Japanese friend at a pasta place in Maebashi. It was so good and cheap! Only ¥1393 and you get pasta, and then all you can eat salad + pizza + soft drinks + ice cream! So good. Even though we got there at 17:30, we ended up staying all the way till almost 21:00 just talking! It was also nice because normally buffet places have a time limit (2 hours ish) but this place just lets you stay there as long as you like.

Friday 6th April

Woke up at 7:15am, had rice for breakfast, threw out the trash, and headed out to the city hall at 8:00am. We had an office day today, but I went out early to get my residence certificate for my drivers license application. Once I got the certificate, I headed up to the 21st floor where another ALT had arrived early and was just enjoying the view. Once it became 9:30am we headed back down to the 17th floor to the office day. The main focus of today’s meeting was mainly on the new attendance sheet format, so I drifted off a lot. It’s a simple system, I’m not sure why everyone was stressing out over it! Anyway, the office day finished and a few of us had a quick lunch downstairs in the city hall cafeteria (I had cold udon – so good and cheap!) before going back to work.
