お花見 Time!

Totally forgot it’s April today! Time really flies fast. Had another hanami planned for today! Slept in till 10:30am again before waking up and heading out to Takasaki Station to pick up an ALT friend, and also to buy food for the hanami today. Bought bento and lots of cake! Drove over to the grounds by the river which had a long stretch of sakura trees. We got a lovely spot at the bottom of the banks under the sakura, there really weren’t many people around (when compared to Tokyo and yesterday’s Maebashi) so it was really lovely. Apparently people in Gunma don’t really do hanami – not like Tokyo where everyone goes out to do hanami. We had a lovely hanami, and one of the ALT friends kept seeing her students around since we were in her area. After that we walked over to the art museum where another ALT friend’s colleague was having a calligraphy exhibition. Then we walked back to the grounds area and just played some sports. It was lovely to be spending so much time outside, the weather was really perfect! Once it got dark we split up for dinner, since I had plans with another Japanese friend. I drove back to the station when it was time, parked, and walked over to this new burger bar that she had found on her way to work this morning. The burgers were actually pretty good! Headed home around 21:30.
