February flew by! We can finally watch Black Panther tomorrow! Woke up at 7:00am, had bread for breakfast, and then set off a bit early for school since I needed to get some cash from the ATM on the way. First up today was 2-3 and we were presenting our family “plays”. They were so great!!! Everyone said their lines very clearly, pronounced properly, and were very enthusiastic. They also answered my questions very well (“What colour does mother like?” “What is father’s job?”). Their homeroom teacher and I were both very proud of them, they truly did a spectacular job. Had a spare period in period 2 because of a schedule change, so I continued with printing out Grade 3’s personalised worksheets. Next up was 2-1 in period 3 and they were alright, but not great like 2-3. It’s a bit to be expected though, cause 2-3 has a teacher who pushes them extra hard in English, always practicing with them outside of class time and everything. 2-1 was still able to get through the presentations, but I didn't get to ask any questions after the presentations because they took a lot of time for practice, and just getting ready and settling down and everything so we finished with just doing presentations only. 5-1 in period 4 and we practiced reading the picture book with the beat. It’s almost like magic how the beat helps/makes the kids read the lines so fluently, and it just seems to ignite a passion in them to learn/practice the lines. Even the kids who almost never try in English were doing it properly, they just all get swept up into the rhythm! About half the class was able to fully memorise their lines by the end of the lesson, and the remaining were a mixture of still needing to look at the lines, or not getting the hang of the beat yet.
Lunch today was with the special needs class and it was a very warm and family-like atmosphere again. The teacher told me later that one of the kids had written in his school diary “Jaime-sensei came for lunch today. It was very fun. I want to see her again.” Hearing that just makes your heart melt! Too cute. Cleaning time was easy today, the Olympics hype is finally seeming to slowly die down. Last class of the day with 2-2 in period 5 and their presentations were pretty alright too. They were funny with answering the questions cause they didn’t understand at first, and then they’d be like “OH colour and not job” and answer correctly. I was filming their speeches as well and they were like “WE’RE BEING FILMED GUYS” and waving at the camera and stuff. Got off work at 16:15 after having meetings with my JTE and the 1st grade teachers. Took my dad to explore some 2nd hand shops and Nitori, and then we had ramen for dinner before going to the supermarket to stock up on some groceries.
