Saturday 24th February

Woke up at 8:30am to have a lovely breakfast buffet at the hotel – oranges, pineapple, grapefruit, iced coffee, omelets made to order, super delicious croissants, French toast, and a whole lot of other stuff. After we finished breakfast we packed up, checked out, and then walked to our next place of accommodation, Planeteyze Hostel (it was just 16 minutes walk away) and dropped off our bags there. Then we were off! First we went to the snowboard shopping district Kanda, and it truly was THE snowboard shopping district with so many snowboard shops in the area – there were so many that it was dizzying! After browsing shop after shop I finally settled on a Roxy helmet from Murasaki Sports. Very happy with the purchase since the helmet was very light and comfortable, and it also had 10% off plus my ¥1000 discount from my points card yay! After that we decided to go to Tsukiji Fish Market for lunch (we had planned to go tomorrow morning but the market’s not open on Sundays woops!). We settled for sashimi don at a restaurant that didn't have a waiting line (yay!). After that we browsed the market, I had a matcha ice cream, and we had some coffee at this very cute, local little coffee shop. Once we were done with Tsukiji, we headed to another area of Tokyo to meet up with my dad’s friends from his fencing days – they hadn’t seen each other in at least 15 years! While we were waiting for them to come pick us up from the station, we browsed around the shopping malls there a bit – the station area had a lot of malls and a lot of people. The friend drove us to their home (it was such a lovely house) and we had a lovely time there. After we finished dinner and dessert they drove us back to the station and we made our way back to the hostel for check-in just before 23:00 and went to bed.

Sunday 25th February

Had a lovely sleep in till 10:00am before waking up and getting ready, having a free matcha latte at the hostel (because we filled out this survey thing) and then heading out for a late breakfast/early lunch at a ramen place nearby. The Tokyo Marathon was being held today so we were able to see that in action. After we finished the ramen (it was delicious and super comforting!) we headed to Nippori Station to go to explore Yanaka Ginza – a local shopping street famous for sunsets and cats. It was a lovely little street filled with random shops and food stalls. I had the famous cat’s tail donut, and my dad found some teacups that he liked. After that we popped over to Akihabara quickly to have a browse, then popped back again to Yanaka Ginza to have some cake and coffee and a bit of a break, and then decided to head back to Takasaki early. Arrived at Takasaki Station at around 17:15 and we went straight to JINS upstairs to prescribe glasses for my dad. After that was finished we went to Sushiro for sushi train dinner, and then went home and unpacked and did some laundry.
