Saturday 17th February

I took my friends to explore Haruna today! Bit of an eventful morning because we were supposed to wake up at 8:15am for a 9:00am set off, but I had mistakenly set my alarm for 8:15PM so that’s why it never rang haha. We quickly got ready and then set off for Haruna. Fuelled up and bought some breakfast at Lawson on the way. At Haruna, we met up with a group of my ALT friends who were there to try ice skating – the lake freezes over so you can walk on the frozen lake, do ice fishing, and ice skating! Unfortunately they didn't seem to be doing the ice skating today, so we changed plans and went up the gondola to the top of Haruna’s Fuji. We tried hiking back down, but the path was too iced over so it was a bit dangerous, so we turned back and went down using the gondola. Warmed up a bit at a café where they served this really interesting and delicious mushroom tea (my friends bought some as souvenirs), and we all ordered some coffee to warm up, which the café served with some cute as cookies. After that we took some more photos while walking on the frozen lake, drove over the melody road, and then went to 回転寿司 for lunch since my friends wanted to have sashimi. After lunch everyone was still hanging around so we decided to go to have dessert (strawberry parfait) at this place near one of the ALT’s house, and he’s very familiar with the owners because he goes all the time. The restaurant was such a lovely, cute little homey place. After that we said goodbye to my ALT friends, and then we went back to my place to get my friends’ luggage, and then I dropped them off at Takasaki Station for they were heading back to Tokyo tonight.

Sunday 18th February

Had a lovely sleep in till 10:30am, then woke up and had a shower before setting out for Maebashi to have lunch with a Japanese friend. The café restaurant that she had found for us was a lovely Italian place that did a lunch set for only ¥1280 – the set was massive with salad, soup, pasta (and you could upgrade it to a large serving for free!), a drink, and dessert (and dessert was a selection of three different ones that you could choose yourself!). Such a good deal. It was a very popular place with a lot of people (their lunch set is too worth it) so we had to wait a bit, but it didn't feel too long since we just talked and talked. After we finished lunch we said goodbye, and then I headed to another ALT friend’s house to watch Logan. There were several people in our group who hadn’t watched it before, so we set up today to watch it together.
