Woke up just before my alarm rang at 7:00am – not sure if it has anything to do with my fractured wrist but my body alarm clock has been insanely on time ever since Monday! Always waking up by itself just before 7:00. Had rice for breakfast and then set off for work. Because 4-1 and 1-3 are being quarantined, that left me with only 3 lessons to teach today, which works out well cause of my wrist. Spent the first spare period prepping for tomorrow’s and Monday’s lessons. Had class with 1-1 in period 2. It was a very smooth class and everything, but they really struggled with the family vocab. The words just didn't seem to want to stick in their minds, which was pretty interesting because they learn stuff like colours and animals and other such vocab quick enough. But today’s lesson was just full of me repeating the vocab over and over again with them not remembering it. Oh well, at least it was still a very smooth lesson.

Class with 1-2 next and it was pretty much the same. Still a smooth running class but the kids had difficulty remembering the words. Their homeroom teacher suggested that it might be because they don't use family vocab often, or they don't come across it in their daily use whereas they do for colours and animals (which is why they were able to remember animals and colours vocab so fast), and also just difficult pronunciation (a lot of “th” sounds). A few girls were being really diligent though and asking if they could take memos so that they could remember the words – super cute! Had period 4 free since 1-3 is away on quarantine, and just spent the time slowly colouring in the Valentines English board stuff with my left hand. I’m going to become ambidextrous at this pace ha. Had lunch with 3-3 today and we had udon (took me awhile to eat that with just a spoon haha), bread, salad, and red bean soup with mochi in it. Today’s lunch was really fun because the two kids who I was sitting in front of were really chatty and talkative, and we talked about a lot of things. Cleaning time was the same as yesterday – the actual cleaning was good, but just took them a little while to settle down for the reflection meeting.

Last class of the day with 4-2 in period 5 and it was a really fun one. We started off with the ドイツじゃなくて Germany chant, which they did with a lot of enthusiasm. Then we did another powerpoint quiz (Christmas version!) and they loved guessing all the countries too. My laptop died before we could finish it though so we had to cut that part of the lesson short. They didn’t mind too much though, as we moved into the snake paper scissors rock game next. They loved that game and it got pretty heated up as the two teams fought against each other to reach the other side first. They didn’t forget to say the country names as they were going though, so that was great too. continued my English board colouring work in the spare period 6, and then got off work at 16:00.
