Woke up today at 7:00am and had a chocolate chip メロンパン for breakfast. Drove to school since my mum was visiting the school with me today. Relatively relaxed today with only 4 lessons, but it still felt a bit tiring because 3-2 and 3-3 were both super loud and rowdy today. 3-2 just wouldn't quiet down and we struggled through all the activities. Even their homeroom teacher couldn't get them to listen today, so it was a bit of a draining class. 3-3 was alright but again just a bit noisy. Thankfully 3-1 was their usual great self, so I could do all the planned activities well with them, and do the hint version of Karuta that I couldn't do with 3-2. Their homeroom teacher also came up with a genius way of keeping their nametags in the kids’ own files, so that we won’t have to waste time handing out the nametags and untangling them at the beginning of every lesson.

I had lunch today in the staffroom with my mum (the school had kindly prepared one for her too!) and today’s lunch was so nice! It was naan bread (that was super soft) with curry, blueberry yoghurt, pickled vegetables salad, and milk. I showed my mum the route for walking home as she was feeling a bit tired, so she left first. Spent the lunchtime finishing the last of the nametags so yay!! I have now finished all 400 nametags. Cleaning time was super cute today because there was an important meeting going on in the principal’s office (which is on the corridor we clean) so the kids were being extremely quiet. We were whispering to each other and they were telling each other “shhhhh” every few seconds. Then when we finished up and were walking back to class they were tip-toeing in the most hilarious ways possible, so today was just a fun cleaning time overall. Last period with 5-1 and we did the summary test for the “What’s this?” unit and played the keyword game to practice the new unit’s vocab (subjects). They were all complaining that the test was too hard, but they could actually do all of it. I also had some interesting conversations with some kids about China and Korea. Finished up work at 16:20 and then drove home. Had a pear at home and then we went to Nitori to buy some things. Had very delicious ramen for dinner (with the nicest fried rice and gyoza!) and then had super nice ほうじ茶 Haagen Daaz ice cream at home.
