Wednesday

Woke up feeling a LOT better from my cold – my nose is finally not blocked and my head is feeling a lot clearer. Had the last of the bread I’d kept in my freezer for breakfast today, and drove to school. A much more relaxed day today than I had expected with only 3 classes because of timetable changes. Originally was supposed to have 5, but because of a play thing that was going on + music class, it was reduced to 3. First up was 2-2 and we were doing the special Halloween lesson. Very easy and nice lesson, perfect to do while recovering from my cold since I just played a Halloween song I found from Youtube (they loved it) and then did a little bit of Halloween vocab (they basically know all the words already) and then bingo (another game they know well so it was allgoods). They got really into bingo, and were very sad when we had to finish – they kept saying “One more! One more!” when time was up already. 2-3 was roughly the same, but one girl was a bit scared of the Youtube video (even though I had downloaded the most tame Halloween song videos) so I played the other Knock Knock, Trick or Treat song which she was better with.

In 3rd and 4th period everyone went to the gym for a special play performance. It was one of those traditional ones where they use the light screens and props to create the shadows to act out the story. To be really honest I fell asleep though, mostly because the gym was all dark so that the light screen would be emphasized, and probably because I’m still recovering from my cold. Not sure how interesting the kids found it either, as a lot of them were getting up to go toilet throughout the performance, which the teachers weren’t too happy about. Lunchtime with 3-2 today and I really feel for their homeroom teacher. She has a lot of the hyper kids in her class so she’s really got her hands full! Lunch took a while to be served and eaten in this class. We had flat udon noodles in soup, and bread with blueberry jam. The cold season is definitely in full swing here. There were a lot of phone calls being made today by homeroom teachers about kids with fevers needing to be picked up. Cleaning time was nice and easy again today because it’s all the conscientious kids on my area this week. Gave them stars as their reward today and both the principal and VP walked past, but they were just like “Aren’t you lucky Jaime-sensei has so much cool stuff to give you”. I am very grateful that I have the most chill principal and VP combo ever.

Last class of the day with 5-1 in 6th period and again nice and easy because it was just the summary test. We didn’t even get onto doing the alphabet fun quizzes because they came in late from their previous lesson, so we only just barely finished the summary test. Today’s lessons were all super nice because they were easy and didn’t take too much of a toll on my throat/body, so hopefully tomorrow I will be feeling even more better! Went to the tire shop next to Daiso after school to get my tire fixed and changed. While that was getting done I went to Daiso to get some stuff. After that I went home and had my leftover nabe stuff for dinner.
