Monday Holiday!

Public holiday today because of Health and Sports Day. I love how Japan has so many random public holidays. Slept in till 10:00am today before waking up and having rice and soup for breakfast. Edited photos and caught up on some stuff before heading out at 14:00 to go explore Ōta! Picked up an ALT friend before driving to Daikoin – a Buddhist temple in Ōta. Normally at temples in Japan you have to pay for entrance, but you didn't at this one! It was quite small, and very quiet with not many people around. There was a little hiking course so we walked up that, only to discover it leads onto an actual hiking course, but since we didn't have time to do the whole thing, we walked back down to the car park. Next we drove to Kanmuri Inari Shrine – all the shrines I’ve been to in Gunma (or in nearby cities/prefectures) are all so colourful with detailed designs! Maybe it’s a prefectural thing? This shrine was also very pretty, and they had a few inari gates around, and not just one shrine, but three! There was a café nearby that was famous (or according to all their signs put up in the shrine) for cream puffs, so I went to go try one. It really was delicious – the choux pastry was super crisp and crunchy, and the custard filling inside was very light and refreshing, not heavy or too sweet at all! Definitely one of the best cream puffs I’ve had.

We were both pretty hungry by this time, so we called it a day and drove back to Takasaki for some 回転寿司 for dinner! I love how all the回転寿司 places around here are all ¥100 per plate – it’s just so cheap. We each had 11 plates of sushi each! Dropped off my friend, and then headed back home myself. Prepped some stuff for school tomorrow, edited today’s photos, and then went to bed.
