It’s the weekend! Planned to go out and see the cosmos flowers today and tomorrow. Slept in till 10:30 before waking up properly and finishing off the last bit of pasta for breakfast/lunch. I chose to set off a bit later because I wanted nice lighting for when I take photos of the cosmos. Today I went to かみつけの里 in Idemachi, which was about a 30 minute drive away. I really enjoyed driving further than what I normally do, but I accidentally followed Google maps onto the tolled highway…oops. At least it was only ¥270…! かみつけの里 is actually an archaeological museum with ancient tombs and lots of clay figures around. I didn't really look at those though because my main purpose was photographing the cosmos!
They were so pretty!!!! It’s so nice how they spread out and have so many different shades of pink and purple with whites in between. There were quite a bit of people around too, having walks, and I think a lot of them were playing Pokemon Go? Because they had their phones out and stuff. Must be a Pokemon hotspot. It was a little cloudy when I arrived but the sun peeked out a bit later and it actually got quite hot! But then it got covered up by clouds again so I didn't manage to see the sunset. Next I went to a patisserie in Maebashi (I’ve saved a lot of patisseries to go to on Google maps!) and the building is so cute! Are all cake shops in Japan this cute!? I bought a few baked goodies for my JTE, and then bought two cakes for myself – a Tiramisu Crumble, and a pistachio raspberry cream cake thingy that looked very pretty.
Drove all the way home from there and made sure not to go on any toll roads. I ate the tiramisu crumble first when I got home and it was really good! I really want to find out what the crumble stuff is made out of – it almost tasted like rice puffs, but chocolate-fied. The tiramisu was great as it wasn't too sweet at all and not too rich! I love how Japanese desserts are so light. I had udon for dinner and then the next cake for dessert. This one was good too but a bit too much cream and not enough cake to balance it out. It was a raspberry and pistachio one with I think cream mousse on the outside? The tiramisu crumble was the better one of the two.
