Short & Sweet Monday

A very relaxed day today as they had given us one more day of rest, in order to buy any more things for home, and just get settled in some more. We officially start work at our schools tomorrow!

I finally went to the supermarket to get groceries today! It was a good thing I did too because the typhoon was coming, and to be stuck at home with no food in a typhoon is so bad. The nearest supermarket to my house is about a 10-minute cycle – 1.8km away is really not bad! It’s a big supermarket that has a lot of things, so I spent a good amount of time in there buying the staples (rice, soy sauce, dashi, salt, oil, etc.) and enjoying the aircon. I also signed up for the point card and it’s really cool because as well as the normal sized one, they have little ones that you can hang on your keys as a keychain for convenience too! I think I should invest it an extra basket for my bicycle though, because I was really pushing the limit – full basket and backpack, and two bags hanging on the side! But I think it’s just cause this was my first initial trip so I had more groceries to buy – it shouldn't be so bad in the future.

I went home to unload everything and have lunch (sushi from the supermarket!), before heading to Cainz again to get an umbrella (prepare for the typhoon!), cooking board, and other miscellaneous cooking utensils. The typhoon struck at around 17:00 for my area, but by that time I was already safely home and preparing a bit for tomorrow’s first day at school!
